Dibbing was started in Session 2, 2017 by Alan Hanrahan. A gesture based on an incorrect dab, "dibs" have been used extensively during Session 2, most notably at the S2 2017 Book Reading by the pirate Owen Buckley six times, in return for five Snapple bottles from Alan. Alongside its use at the book reading, it has also been used at the disco, Tri-Wizard Tournament and EuRAvision as well as casually during CTYI.

Origin
Alan was in the car with his friend Daniel, who's dad was driving them down the M50 when he decided to show how cool and youthful he was, so he tried to dab. Somehow, he messed up spectacularly while saying "Look Daniel! Dib!", and because he took his hands off the wheel to "dib" the car swerved two lanes over and almost crashed. From then on, "dibbing" became an inside joke between Alan and his friend as a way to make fun of his friend's dad. When Session 2, 2017 came around, Alan was still dibbing out of habit and he thought that it would be funny for it to become a thing for the session. He asked several people to spread dibbing, including Owen. Owen says he'll do it for 4 Snapple bottles for the Snapple tower, so Alan buys 5 and shows the receipt as proof. Owen then proceeded to perform 5 dibs throughout the book reading, as well as an encore dib towards the end alongside a shout out.
